Keyword Research Exposed

What can these surfers teach us about marketing?
It is very hard to create waves right? Surfers look for the waves FIRST then they ride them. This is what you should do with your website. Building a website first without research is a HUGE yet very common mistake. Look for the KEYWORDS (the market activity) and then build your website and pages to harness that energy.
Some waves are too crowded?
This is why I suggest you use Market Samurai so that you can see what the keyword demand and competition are like first. Find the perfect keywords for a balance of traffic and competition. Why make building an SEO ready site more difficult than it should be right?

Hey James
Thanks for the video about keyword research. It is so important to do good research if you are going to, like you said, take the power of the wave and roll with it.

That was a very insightful post. It is indeed easier to ride a wave that is already there than trying to create a wave. It would take some powerful machine to create a wave.
Imagine the agony of building a website first for keywords you chose (rather than researched), and trying to introduce the keywords in everyone’s language, out of an attempt to get more people searching for them. I much prefer finding the keywords people are already searching for, and building a website accordingly.
Market Samurai is indeed a great keyword research tool. It automates the finding of data for traffic and data so that I can identify whether a niche is profitable or not in minutes.

I personally learned which words are used in my market by participating at forums and blogs. That’s another way to collect common used search words in a market; get active in the community and you will learn which words people are using.
