I have signed up for Pinterest but have no idea on how to monetize it.

Hey James – does this mean you’re starting to pay attention to Pinterest as well? I recall on a Freedom Ocean episode a few weeks back you said you were avoiding it for the time being…?

I have joined and will start by uploading info graphics since they are popular and add value. S far I have invested no time on pinterest however the success of it is worth paying attention to. They have probaby had ten million visits since I recorded that podcast

Hi guys, in our opinion this is an opportunity for extra traffic and sales you really can’t afford to miss. While it’s still invite only, getting involved with Pinterest can have rih rewards and if you wait until it’s open for everyone, it’ll be too late to a large degree in terms of the potential.
Some say it’s a girl thing and at the moment in some respects it is but the demographic between the U.S. and the UK is not the same; I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere/
I’m from the UK and the split here across the genders is reported at 50/50; in the US, I hear it’s anything from 60-80% women but I’m sure the balance will be redressed as time goes on and for male marketers to dismiss the site as a means of good SEO and traffic because there’s a lot of Etsy stuff, hair styles, Jimmy Choo’s and what-not is a trick missed in my book.
I don’t have that on my boards; I have bass amps, guitars, cool gadgets, places I wanna go so there’s a ton of stuff guys can do. There’s even a section for motors so Pinterest are thinking about the male demographic as well. I say embrace it because like all things internet, who knows how long it will last.
If you want to know how to monetize and drive traffic Mike, or anyone else, Lisa Hernandez and I just wrote a book to explain exactly how to do that. Just follow our link and if you’re not in Pinterest, we take care of your invite.
All the best,
Chris

Hi James,
Not at the moment but their rules could change so you have to pay close attention. If you’re referring to use of the Pinterest logo, it’s a bit confusing because Pinterest actually supply the logo on their site for people to use in a whopping 10,000 x2536 pixel size, basically saying ‘please don’t manipulate our logo, we spent a lot of time creating it’.
Maybe I’m reading that wrong but that says to me you can use it to promo their site as long as you don’t mess about with it. Are you interpreting it differently?
If it’s the domain name, it may be sailing a bit close to the wind but we went for two separate words ‘nonstop’ and ‘interest’ so we’re not using their name outright as some marketers are. I’ve seen pinterest101.com, pinterestprofits.com and the like and that does without a shadow of a doubt contravene their ToS.

Yeah from my experience you are on thin ice. I’d be getting a non branded domain as soon as possible. Only the kindest brands will even will let you re-direct the offensive one to a non offensive one like wordpress.

Thanks for that advice James. Certainly food for thought there.
