Very occasionally a marketer like Kyle Tully comes out with something so truthful and daring that is smacks you in the face. If you are expecting a huge secret then you will be shocked. There is NO secret to making money online.
Have you noticed in Internet Marketing that every few days there is a new must have secret?
The boring truth is that almost every single one of the hype marketers are using the exact SAME core skills no matter what it is they are trying to sell you. Once you realize they are all using basics such as copywriting and other core skills you can reshape your mind about how to approach internet marketing.
Deceptive Conduct
Kyle has put a different twist on newsletters and forums. Instead of the constant blast of affiliate promotions Kyle wanted to share the nuts and bolts of his business. He sat down to right a genuine newsletter sharing the REAL skills you need to make it in this business. He ended up with much more than a newsletter…
The first newsletter became a report
It is a report about running a business, how to choose a market, how to sell it to them, traffic, making offers, surveying customers, list building, testing, one time offers. Kyle is convinced you can get started fast building your business even if you do not have a lot of resources such as money or time.

Naturally when things take off you need to re-invest into your business and as it grows. One of the most important thing is to start at a level that allows you to progress. Trying to make a home study course as your first product is a mistake because it takes so long.
Being a perfectionist will kill your chances
Kyle does include techniques to overcome procrastination. The thing I like about Lost Blueprint is that it has no fluff. The report is concise and easy to put into action. The money online comes from mastering yourself and learning what to produce and how to produce it is the available time. Kyle will not waste your time with this report.
The Lost Skills
Copywriting is a really important thing to learn and you will be able to leverage up your business once you get the hang of it. Persuasion and influence are great copywriting techniques. Kyle says copywriting is a persuasive conversation. Being honest and telling a true story is a great way to convince people and is also the easiest way to get started.
Avoid Overload
If you try and learn too much information you can overload your brain with too much information. The lost blueprint covers the basics that every internet marketing success contains. New people can get the best value from the report by getting the concept that they must be putting together a Website (wordpress is good), a domain name, a sales page, be building a list and using email marketing.
What to giveaway to get a name?
Kyle has had great success creating simple products to use as giveaways to build a list. Two pages and a good reason is all you need. 7 Part email newsletters are also effective for giveaways. Audio and Video are high value giveaways. Above all, make it very simple. You can tell if what you are offering is good enough by the feedback that you get from subscribers. The more content you publish and you put out there, the more confident you will get.
New to all this?
It is ok to be a little nervous about publishing new content. This is just normal for new product creators. Keep it very simple. Kyle has done this in his report by pointing out the main things the most successful people are doing rather than the fads many of them are teaching. Kyles final advice is get something going. Just get a website up today and get going with building your list.

I follow Kyle Tully on Twitter. He always tweets straightforward advice and thoughtful questions. It’s great to hear him speak – it matches how he comes across on Twitter. Real.
His suggestions for how to build a list inspired this question:
Often when I’ve opted in for an X part series on whatever, the marketer sends me e-mails after the series has ended, and those e-mails will come in basically forever (unless I unsubscribe of course). The messages aren’t part of the series, but they are related of course – pitches for products, etc. I’m wondering what Kyle’s perspective and your perspective is on this. I would assume it’s best to do whatever you can to keep in contact with your subscribers as long as it is helpful, honest and relevant, but sometimes I’ve felt a bit tricked. I signed up for an X part series and that is not what is delivered. Usually I unsubscribe. If I like what the marketer has to say and they don’t e-mail often after the series is done, I might stay on board. But I wonder how much marketers know that the majority of people won’t unsub, even if they’ve been a bit misled, so they don’t care about people like me who feel it’s misleading.
I’m thinking that if I do a series, on the final message I could have a note stating I’d like to send them more helpful information, so if they are keen on that, to remain subscribed, but if they want to unsubscribe to do so now.
Your thoughts will help me a lot beause I’m in the process of creating an optin and I’ve struggled a bit with how to go about things.

Hi James – just listened to your interview with Kyle which was great. I’ve also got Kyle’s Lost Blueprint report and agree it’s terrific value. When you get his Lost Bluprint Report Kyle sends you his newsletters which are also very well while getting as they contain absolutely no fluff.

@lillea If you feel tricked then the marketer has not hit the spot. Ethical marketing should never involve deception. (In my mind anyway).
I agree with you that integrity in marketing is far more powerful. It has a lot to do with how you frame the opt-in. Make sure you are clear about why people are signing up. My pet hate is when I buy a product then get sold hard on every other product. I really want to stay on the product updates list but do not want the affiliate pitches.
In my case I set up Internet Marketing Speed to be my newsletter so that clients can stay on my segmented product update lists without being hard pitched.
Always allow people to unsubscribe and keep an eye on the amount of people who leave your list (and on what message).
Many of the ‘big’ timers rely on high volume numbers. I know one marketer who gets 1000 opt-ins every day so he has chosen to burn the heck out of his list and not worry about it. I disagree with that mindset.
He could have 500,000 quality people forever versus the 200,000 people he is left with who have survived his burning. If I had more than 60% of my list leave then I would not feel proud.
Time will reveal the best method.
I’m going for slow and steady growth with loyal happy subscribers.
Also I read every unsubscribe note to see how I can improve. Almost everyone who unsubscribes from my list leaves a polite thank you

Hey James nice interview.
I think what a lot of people forget is that there are two ways to succeed online.
You can sell or you can promote. Most people don’t get involved because they hate selling but the truth is we are all promoters.
Selling is very specific and requires certain skills however promoting is something we all do. We are natural promoters as we tell our friends about a great movie or restaurants or even this audio etc.
A few skills and some promoting can build a great online business and you covered it well.
I agree that the biggest problem most people have is themselves. The best way to overcome it is to Just Do It and then build on your successes.

That is GREAT way to look at it. Just reporting on stuff in an honest tone is a powerful way to build a following.
Nobody likes to be ’sold’ however we all want to be informed!

@Lillea The worst ones are the guys who start pitching you every single day before the X part series is even over!
The simple solution to the ethical issue is in your last email you say something along the lines of — “we’ve come to the last part of the series, but I’ve still got lots to share with you, so look out for my emails each week because I’ll send you more cool stuff.”
Just let them know what your intentions are and if they don’t want to continue they can unsubscribe. Most people don’t

Thanks James. Your marketing methods always hit me right and the more examples I have of people who maintain integrity and do well, the better. Even if deceptive tactics work for some people, I would feel sick using them.
I look forward to having the opportunity to ask subscribers what they’d like to see on my blog, etc. so I can increasingly provide them with the things that they want instead of worrying overly about having the perfect product/optin *before* I get any feedback. I can imagine some of them becoming friends. I would certainly like that.
The interview was definitely a good reminder for me about how being a perfectionist can be a BIG problem, and that I’m not alone in feeling nervous.

Thanks Kyle! Oh yes, I’ve had the pitches at the same time as a series too. Sometimes there isn’t an unsubscribe option! It’s amazing what some people try to get away with.

Spot on — we always want to have all our ducks lined up before we take action. But you’ll NEVER have all your ducks lined up.
As soon as it looks like you’re on top of everything, out of no where comes another duck… and this one is a slippery sucker!
So your best bet is just to take action and realize there is always going to be 1 or 2 ducks running around completely out of control.

I’ve had some ‘chats’ and followed Kyle’s comments on the old copywriters board… and… sometimes on the Warrior forum.
Oh, and James, too.
I’m on James list, and now… I’m on Kyle’s, too.
I’ve pretty much opted out of most other lists and only follow a few guys now.
So, as you can imagine, I like the work these guys do.
