How to Get a Page One Ranking Fast Using a Little known Sneaky Tip

Posted by James in Affiliate, Conversions, How To, Video

I have tested many, many SEO techniques and this is one that works really well. In this short video I explain how I occupied a first page ranking on Google for the search term John Carlton just by combining image search, backlinks and a free Wordpress Plugin….

Step-by-Step implementation for Page One rankings

Step 1 – Add pictures to your blog and name them with the keyword / keyphrase you wish to rank for. (Also the ALT label).

Step 2 – Get some keyword (anchor text) links pointing to that page / post.

Step 3 – Install this free Wordpress plugin to bust through frames. (this is one of the many cool plugins that come standard with the paid Semiologic blog themes)

What should happen next…

When people search for your keywords they should see your pictures. They click on the picture and your site will load to the top of the browser. They buy, you make money! Make sure you use keywords and phrases that have commercial value.

This is cool I am trying it now, thanks. With the newer wordpress versions you can install direct from the admin panel, so no need to download and ftp. :)

There is another cool plugin that helps with this – “SEO Friendly Images”

I know you’re on a plugin diet James, but this one is worth looking at if you want to automate ALT & TITLE on any images you post.

Hey James, does this work for a regular website as well as a Wordpress Blog?

Anything special needed to do in XSP to make it work?

Thanks for all your great tips.

Hi James, I guess my brain just went on vacation, but where do I find a “frame buster script” to install on my web page with the photos?

Thanks for helping the mentally inept!

The only problem that I can see with this implementation of the frame buster is that it breaks the browser back button (at least it does in FF3).

Once people go to your site they cannot simply click “back” to return to their search results.

Not very friendly ….

Hi James,

Thanks for another great tip! I always wondered how to bypass the G photo preview.

Is your internetmarketingspeed blog an example of the Semiologic blog theme? If you have more of your experience with that theme somewhere, could you point us to it?

Best,
Donna

@Colin – the back button works fine on my explorer. i think there are varying degrees of frame buster.

Regarding friendly, what about when other sites hold your site hostage inside their ads? There is a good reason to use a frame buster.

@ Donna – IMS is part Semiologic (It started out using that platform), part WooThemes and part custom.

I recommend Semiologic if you want a strong SEO CMS system. It works well if you are able to manage it properly. The designs are not as enticing as other themes.

I totally agree. The frame buster is a great tip. For anyone that is a little tech-savvy I have done some research and the following javascript code embedded in your html tag should give you frame busting AND a working back button:

if (top!= self) top.location.replace(self.location.href);

You can add this to any normal web page or manually add it to your wordpress blog by editing the header.php file (I think). I have tested this solution in Firefox and IE with good results. Sorry … don’t have a Mac :-)

Note: Make sure the javascript is included between the tags

Hi James, I tried a “frame buster script” with both Wordpress blogs and normal websites using XSP, and nothing worked like your video says it should???

Any ideas?

Hi John, Try Colins script (just above yours). Make sure ytou allow time for the site to get updated.

24. Aug, 2009

John, I have tested this solution in ASP.NET, wordpress etc on a couple of different browsers.
Make sure you put the javascript code in the HEAD section of your page. Javascript needs to be surrounded by SCRIPT tags too ….
Google for the correct syntax … the blog editor won’t accept the correct code formatting so I can’t enter the code exactly as it should appear …

Colin, I entered the following script in the Head section of my regular website using XSitePro, but it is still not working?

if (top!= self) top.location.replace(self.location.href);

Maybe the code for this script is incorrect??? (I am not a code guy…lol….)

Let me know.

Thanks a million for your help.

25. Aug, 2009

John, I’m not familiar with XSitePro but … you need to edit the HTML code (I presume you are okay with this since you mention the HEAD section). You then need to put your code inside a SCRIPT tag as well so the browser knows it is javascript.

There are a number of examples on this page

Colin, Thank you very much for the correct script.

Now I got it working.

Interesting, it will not show up on certain countries with Google. I am in the Philippines and will not show up here on Google Search. I switched to a proxy server and it works fine in other countries.

God Bless!!!

Hey James, with these training videos are you also hosting them on youtube or social channels? BECAUSE just as with the pictures, a custom youtube channel with your story ie -the success you’ve had etc – would drive even more traffic through to this blog – especially using traffic geyser or tube mogul.

Thats really neat.

I use a “frame buster” to hide my cloaked pages from the google cache but i never thought of this.

I still wonder how Google determines when to show image results in the SERPS?

Confused.

Hi James, one week Google will like my site – 5 listings for my main keyword (and domain name) and high results for my other keyterms. Then another week (normally for two weeks) Google will drop me completely for any search results for my high ranking keywords, and even drop me for my main keyword previously having 5 listings on the first page for. This has been happening for weeks on and off – and I’m not really doing any specific SEO that could be seen as ‘bad’ in Google’s eyes. Do you know what may be causing this and how to fix it? Thanks!

I wonder what trick James uses in order to show his face in a separate window while doing a camtasia tutorial in the background…

Is it a software?

12. Dec, 2009

@Kat – Yes, I also post videos to my Youtube channel and Viddler with branded videos among others. For my daily blog videos I am using the Viddler embed from now to save time and because they render beautifully with the control to put my logo. Once I reach 5000 views per month I will become a partner…

@Remco – I think Google like the keyword on the image and also a link to the image from an authority site helps give some weight.

@Nikki – get more links with a variety of ‘anchor text’ (words used in the links) and this should stabilize for you. Keep growing the site too with more content.

@ Kenneth I just made a new category just for you with tips almost every day. Keep posting!

See the new “Videos Tab” on the menu bar: http://www.internetmarketingspeed.com/category/video/

@Tim – Yes Camtasia for mac or Screenflow will get the image in the video…

Regards,

James

You show “sneaky tips” but assume we all know how to set this up. What is an IFrame Busting script? Where do you get it, and how do you set this up? If you are going to put up “how to’s” it would be nice if you could follow through step by step instructions on how to do it. I suspect however, you won’t do that because you simply don’t want to take the time. You, like so many other IM’s out there selling affiliate products offer advice but fail to adequately follow through on it. Sorry. Just my humble opinion.

21. Dec, 2009

Sorry, but did not work for me. I implememted it 5 days ago. (is that long enough for Google ?) . A Great tip if only I could get it to work.

Wavatar James

23. Dec, 2009

@Lee did you read this post before posting your question? In the step-by-step instructions in this post I show you where to get the frame busting script. In the video I tell you what it does. Why do you assume I don’t want to take the time when I offer these tips on a free blog? I am most certainly different to other affiliates and if you read some of the other comments on this blog you will discover this. I could tell you where you can stick your humble opinion however I’ll keep the blog family friendly.

@John, give it more time. Try to get links to your image from authority pages and allow time for Google to index it.

Oooh, nice tip…I am going to be trying this one. I have a heap of niche blogs that would work perfectly with this sort of technique. Thanks for the info.

Just name image when you add it. Give it a keyword-phrase then get backlinks to it.
