Can You Really Be An Offline Business Internet Marketing Consultant Without Experience?

Fellow Australian Marketer Kyle Tully is back for another interview. Kyle and I have been discussing internet marketing for a few years because we share the same views on most topics. This time we talk about offline business consulting and who is qualified to do this model. Both of us have been pursuing this lucrative internet marketing business model for several years.
Early start
Kyle got into marketing at an early age. He came through the traditional Dan Kennedy style of direct response marketing. This is the same sort of material I would recommend all serious marketers get access to. I own every one of Dan Kennedy’s NO B.S books.
Do offline business internet marketers need to be technical?
We discuss technical versus marketing skills. Putting together a business is going to involve some basic technical learning. If you can learn these things even a little you can put your self into a position where you can outsource later anyway. When you outsource the technical stuff you can know what to expect from outsourcing and you can fix things on the spot if you have to. Being able to talk about these things confidently will give you a boost when it comes to talking to offline clients. Professional web clients (corporates) will happily pay you to make small changes. You can outsource this and charge the client. We discussed the ‘done for you’ with a maintenance service model. Kyle says clients want this and I agree.
One time fee or recurring income?
Both Kyle and I were selling one time payment jobs when we started and now we both offer maintenance packages. Maintenance programs are something you should educate clients to have and also something that is very good for them. There are different things you can sell at various price points. (Kyle runs a membership site called Consulting Tycoon) Typical services clients of Kyle will learn are how to sell packages of websites, traffic, SEO (Search Engine Optimization, newsletters, article writing, PPC (Pay Per Click) , followup marketing with auto-responders. You can work within your strengths and clients will happily pay you to learn on the job. Once you learn a skill for a client you can use it for other clients and your own business.
Just do it for yourself or do it for others?
Kyle and I discussed the dream goal of sitting at the beach making money. (Ironic given that I am typing this from the beach house!). We agreed that providing a service for others is a great way to start cash flow and get great experience. We both still serve clients through services and personal content because we can hone our skills. Kyle gets a lot of enjoyment from helping business owners. The average business owner has a very low level of knowledge about Internet Marketing. Even with a small exposure to internet marketing and solid offline consulting strategies you will be able to impress.
Success stories
Some of Kyles students have started out with a good mindset and created a very good business within a short period of time. One of my own Business Internet Formula students (Jock Purtle) pursuing this model generated a six figure contract within a few weeks! We both have seen people do this fast when they apply the methods we teach. I have some templates in my SuperFastResults forum and Kyle has massive content in his membership.
Warning: Not so ethical Internet Marketers
Kyle and I have seen a lot of trashy products coming out in this niche (the ‘offline gold local business’ niche). Many of these were put together by students in dorm rooms with nothing but a taste for opportunity. For example any product that puts a heavy bias on cold calling is missing the point. Many traditional internet marketing experts have cobbled together products (often with a no-name business partner) to serve this hot niche. What you should be looking for is a solid business plan that involves creating a ‘pull marketing’ system (where the client will come to you). You should look for better ways to have clients come to you and they should also be keen to buy from you.
The real deal
Kyle invested over $50,000 in educating himself and formulated direct mail templates that he has included in the membership site that he runs. He has been selling these services to corporates as I have for years. Real experience in the market is irreplaceable when you are looking for someone to model from.
Hot Tips
When asked for advice Kyle suggested people take action and just get started. Start telling people that you are in the business and get going with it. One of the biggest things that is separating Kyles membership from the rest of the products out there is Kyles special Licensing information. I truly believe that Kyle is at the top of the game and he has produced more winners than any other offline community I have seen.
Complement Offline training
For people looking for offline consulting education from Kyles program I will include a 30 day free trial access to SuperFastResults. Plus a copy of ‘Its not about the website“. Kyle has generated at least $10,000 from information in my forum.

Super information. I know what I’ll be going for in 2010 now that I’ve learned the basics and gone beyond them in some areas too. Time to stop being slowed down by tech things and focus on what I do best instead. I look forward to learning more from you guys on the forum and elsewhere.

Hey James,
Thank you for the great interview with Kyle.
Being a middleman with offline business is a project I’d like to pursue in 2010.
But I have a question. Is it possible to do this even if you are not in the US and want to work with them?
I mean that I won’t be face to face with anyone, just the old Internet way (email)

I can attribute to not having experience and able to instantly become an offline marketing consultant.
Why ?
Because I have done it myself. At 20.
Kyle is the real deal and he and James have helped me tremendously to get me where I am today.
Kyle actually did an interview with me the other day about how I landed my 6 figure client.
You can check it out here:
http://www.consultingtycoon.com/how-a-20-year-old-with-2-months-experience-landed-a-6-figure-client.php
After you have done that, than grab a copy of consulting tycoons because what I apply to my business, Kyle teaches exactly the same stuff and you can learn it too !

I really agree with the point made about just telling people that this is the business you are in and getting on with it.
The thing that stops a lot of people progressing in the IM business is mind-chatter that convinces them out of pursuing the goals and ambition…sometimes you just have to stop thinking and get on with it to block out the mind-chatter telling you otherwise.
Thanks James & Kyle for this!

@Franck Yes! You can use video sales proposals from another country. Also many other countries other then the USA can have this business model.
Regards James

@Franck YES you can definitely do this without being in the US and without meeting people face to face. In 10+ years I’ve only met 5 or 6 of my clients in person. Many of my clients are from overseas (US, UK, Spain etc) and have only communicated via email.
You can go a LONG way with just an Internet connection and a phone (or Skype)

Hi James and Kyle, thank you for your resources here. This is definitely one of the best information sites in the consulting business.
Keep up the good work.

James, what is the difference between Kyle’s training and the other ones out there – Traffic Geyser (the new push for local online marketing), Scott Gallagher, etc…
Thanks a million! Truly enjoy seeing your updates and soaking up the ideas and training.

@Tim Kyle has been working with offline business clients for a long time.
I see difference as 1) experience and 2) focus.
Many of the other solutions are put together by internet marketers trying to catch a dime in this hot segment.
Mikes Traffic Geyser is a business tool and it makes sense for him to purpose this for the hot market. Mike is an awesome guy and very smart. I have no seen his local business content but I can guess if you are following Kyles method you OR your outsource worker (more likely) would be using TG anyway.
Not familiar with Scott.
I have heard from another person that one of the mainstream Internet Marketers offline products (you would know his name) is very poorly put together.
Kyles stuff is high quality/

Hi Tim
Based on the feedback from people in the program, what they say makes this program different are:
1. Real world experience. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years. (And I’m STILL doing it.) I literally hand you everything I use in my business, including direct mail letters, scripts, templates, forms, emails, business & marketing plans… everything that took me 10 years of trial and error to develop.
2. Coaching. Not only do you get a systematized home study course, but a support forum, my Skype, and personal email address. And I make myself available to everyone. That’s why our success rate is so high. You simply cannot get this level of coaching and support for this price anywhere.
3. Depth and breadth of training. I use and teach multiple business models all under the “consulting” umbrella. You don’t get any “one trick pony” tactics, just serious strategies for building a REAL business.
Feel free to get in touch if you’ve got any questions.
Cheers
Kyle

I started internet marketing in September 2009, with James and I have stumbled a few times in affiliate marketing, so I studied Kyles’ golden nugget
and Without hesitation I signed up and set to work from day 1.
6 days later after reading,
watching and listening to the mass of info on Kyles membership site,
I was at the stage of lets go, but Nerves were there to protect me arr, the good old friend, fear. But something clicked inside, I guess you can call it a swift kick up the arse.
The very next day I had set the wheels in motion
and within 1 day I had a client phone me up the very next day he sined up. So theres your answer,
if you want to use a business model that works with enthusiasm,
then Kyle IS YOUR MAN.
thanks Kyle,
Can’t wait to catch up and shake your hand

I came. I learned. I applied. I got clients. I outsource. I get recurring income. It works – no BS. It’s that simple.
